Welcome to the 4th Annual John Barton Memorial Golf Outing!
The John Barton Memorial Golf Outing is a fundraising event for the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research, in memory of Coach John Barton. Jim Valvano -- at the relatively young age of 46 -- was diagnosed with cancer. His dream was to find cures for the disease. The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded by ESPN and Jim Valvano in 1993, and its first goal was to help early-career cancer investigators develop into promising research talents.
From their website -- JimmyV.org -- "The V Foundation has awarded more than $130 million to more than 120 facilities nationwide and proudly awards 100% of direct cash donations to cancer research and related programs."
Like Jim Valvano, John Barton also unfortunately lost his battle with cancer. Coach Barton was always an inspiration... to friends, students and athletes. He helped build the foundation of Geneva High School success starting back in 1967.
Know that your contribution to this event will help in the
research efforts to erradicate a terrible disease. In the
words of Jimmy Valvano: Don't Give Up... Don't Ever Give Up!®
